Umesh Yadav finally got the much needed break through that India was looking for as he dismissed Thirimanne on 51 runs, thanks to a superb catch taken by skipper Virat Kohli in the 2nd slip. Cheteshwar Pujara slammed his 16th fifty and he stood tall on a challenging wicket in Eden Gardens Kolkata as the rest of the batsmen floundered. Suranga Lakmal was the star with 4/26 and he was given good support from Dasun Shanaka, Lahiru Gamage and Dilruwan Perera as India were bowled out for 172 on day 3 of the Kolkata Test. Bhuvneshwar Kumar struck early for India as he removed the Sri Lankan openers but Lahiru Thirimanne scored a fifty and shared a fifty-plus stand with Angelo Mathews to reduce the deficit.
